Katie E. Gorrie concentrates her practice in construction and general negligence. She defends owners, construction managers, general contractors, and subcontractors in construction litigation involving personal injury, property damage, and construction defects. She also represents health clubs and fitness facilities for general litigation needs including personal injury and property damage. Besides a focus on state and federal courts, Ms. Gorrie also has experience practicing before the Illinois Court of Claims on construction-related litigation. She has served as both first and second chair for numerous jury trials that were taken to verdict in the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, as well as litigated several cases pending in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District.
Ms. Gorrie has provided risk management education to construction professionals and authored articles in the field of construction litigation. She also attends construction risk management conferences around the country. She has been involved with the Illinois State Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association. In 2009 and 2010, she served as one of the hosts of "Legal Ease - Voice of the Young Lawyer", a regular webcast series sponsored by West LegalWorks that focused on issues affecting young lawyers. She also served as a guest panelist for the Fall 2010 Basic Skills Civility Conference, held at the Chicago Bar Association, which discussed professionalism and civility for young lawyers. She has also worked with the American Bar Association, serving as a panelist for career information sessions for young law students. Ms. Gorrie has served as a mentor/panelist for Chicago minority job fairs, focusing on the placement of minorities in the Chicago legal market.
