Glenn F. Fencl

Glenn F. Fencl is co-chair of Johnson & Bell's Insurance group. He concentrates his practice in product liability and insurance coverage. He has handled numerous declaratory judgment coverage trials in several jurisdictions, is lead trial lawyer for several national manufacturers and has more than 25 jury verdicts. Mr. Fencl has given several presentations and has authored numerous articles, including the Comprehensive General Liability chapter for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education treatise “Liability Insurance Coverage Practice.” His success as a trial attorney has been recognized by his peers, who have nominated him with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Fencl is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the Chicago and Illinois Bar Associations, Past President of the Trial Lawyers Club of Chicago, American Arbitration Association, Defense Research Institute and Society of Trial Lawyers. He is also a member of the steering committee of the ALFA Insurance Law Practice Group.

Mr. Fencl was the Program Chair for the ALFA International EPLI seminar that was held in New York in June 2010.

Conferences and Speaking Engagments

Spoke at the DRI Product Liability Conference in April in New Orleans. Mr. Fencl gave a presentation to the Scaffolding, Cranes and Aerial Devices Litigation Workshop titled "Recovering Funds After Settlement: A Practical Guide to Subrogation".
On June 21, 2011, in Chicago, Mr. Fencl conducted a session on effective witness preparation titled: "Testimony Under Fire: Deposition and Trial - A Witness Perspective" for The National Catholic Risk Retention Group's Legal Defense Practice Workshop. Approximately 50 attendees, including claims persons, risk managers, and TPA's attended. Mr. Fencl will also be presenting the same topic on October 11, 2011 at their Workshop in San Jose, California.
Mr. Fencl was recently appointed as the DRI Marketing Liaison and State Representative for the State of llinois for the DRI's annual meeting in Washington D.C., October 26-30th. The scheduled speakers include Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and former President Bill Clinton.
Mr. Fencl will be moderating a 90 minute workshop program on "Litigation Management" at the National Catholic Risk Retention Group Annual Writer Meeting at the Westin Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from January 29-31, 2012.
Mr. Fencl has been selected to speak at the DRI Product Liability Conference in Law Vegas, Nevada on April 12, 2012 for the Recreational Product SLG on the topic of "Case Law Updates".
